I have reviewed my data collection and retention policy in line with the General Data Protection Act.  This page provides an overview and if you would like more details please contact me, the Data Compliance Officer (

If you are a customer or supplier, I will have your data stored in several other places for the purposes of invoicing, paying bills and delivering projects.  This page relates specifically to the marketing data collected via this website or in person. Please contact me (the Data Compliance Officer) if you need other information.

Information collected

I collect personal data from visitors to this website using online forms, email links and on the contact page.  I collect your details when you email me with an enquiry. I may also have collected your details when I met you in person.

When you submit your data to me, either through the website, by email or in person, this is collected by Harvest (my CRM) and is used by me in a variety of ways, specifically:

  • Providing information about products and services
  • Providing and personalising my services
  • Dealing with your enquiries and requests
  • Administering membership of my newsletter distribution list
  • Conducting market research

In all cases my aim is that it is clear what you are opting into and you will have given your consent for me to use your data.

I do not pass on my data to any third party.

Where your data is stored?

Harvest is my client relationship management tool and collects and stores your data. In this instance, Harvest is the data processor and Fast + Steady is the data controller. I also use Apple’s Contacts app to store email addresses and telephones.

Harvest is a cloud-based time-tracking, invoicing and CRM provider. More about the Harvest commitment to data protection can be found here:

What are cookies?

As is common practice with almost all websites built this side of Y2K this site uses cookies, which are tiny little crumbs of files that are downloaded to your computer, to improve your experience. This page describes what information they gather, how I use them and why I sometimes need to store these cookies (on your computer, not in a large jar). I will also share how you can prevent these cookies from being stored however this may downgrade or ‘break’ certain elements of the sites functionality.

How Fast + Steady uses cookies

I use cookies for a variety of reasons detailed below. Mostly I use them for eating, but I guess that’s not relevant here. Unfortunately in most cases there are no industry standard options for disabling cookies (why would you want to cut cookies from your life?) without completely disabling the functionality and features they add to this site. It is recommended that you leave on all cookies if you are not sure whether you need them or not in case they are used to provide a service that you use.

Disabling cookies

You can prevent the setting of cookies by adjusting the settings on your browser (see your browser Help for how to do this). Be aware that disabling cookies will affect the functionality of this and many other websites that you visit. Disabling cookies will usually result in also disabling certain functionality and features of this site. Therefore it is recommended that you do not disable cookies. I think that’s made that clear.

The cookies what I set

  • Google Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics which is one of the most widespread and trusted analytics solutions on the web for helping me to understand how you use the site and ways that I can improve your experience. These cookies may track things such as how long you spend on the site and the pages that you visit so I can continue to produce engaging content. Otherwise I’ll just keep writing about my dog.

More information?

Hopefully that has clarified things for you without leaving you salivating. If you’re super confused it’s usually safer to leave cookies enabled in case it effects one of the features you use on this site.
